Divemaster

Program Details

The Divemaster Course is your first level of professional training. You can become a role model for every diver.

You need the following qualifications if you want to turn your passion for diving into a career:

– You are at least 18 years or older.
– You completed the Rescue Diver Course with success.
– You possess the certificate of Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care (CPR and First Aid) not older than 2 years.
– You have to prove that you are in a good health condition by submitting a medical statement signed by a physician within the last 12 months.
– Before you start the course you need to have 40 logged dives and 60 logged dives if you want to receive your Divemaster certificate.

The Divemaster Course teaches you to be a leader and take charge of dive activities. Through knowledge development sessions, water skills exercises, workshops and practical assessments, you will develop the skills to organize and manage a variety of scuba diving activities.

During the knowledge development sessions you will see everything about the business of diving and your career.
Your instructor will explain you how to supervise dives for certified divers and how to conduct dive briefings.

Another point of the course is how to supervise students in training. You will learn all about diver safety and risk management. Divemaster conducted programs are also on the agenda. Next to all the above you will also see with your instructor the topics concerning dive set up and management, physics and physiology of scuba diving, first aid, equipment, environment and skills.

During the water skills exercises and applications you will learn how to map a project and the role of the Divemaster in confined water training, open water training and non-training activities. You will also organize a search and recovery project and a deep dive. You will assist with Discover Scuba Diving and you will lead Discover Local Diving programs. You will also learn to conduct a Divemaster program such as skin diver or scuba review.

Through the practical workshops you will learn how to develop and optimize your skills to the maximum. The Stamina tests will be discussed. All general diving skills will be overviewed. You will practice a complete diving equipment exchange. How to deal with problems and how to solve them is also a workshop topic. Your dive rescue skills will be improved.

During the Divemaster Course you will learn how to guide groups while diving, how to map dive locations and how to protect the fragile marine environment. In addition you will be taught everything about the technology and the science behind diving. Your instructor will also teach you how to carry out your own dive master program.

You can complete the Divemaster Course at your own pace but you should count between 10 to 15 days minimum.
